Grandparents Day - January 25th

Today was a very special day. We were delighted to welcome over 80 grandparents to visit us in the school. After refreshments in the hall, they went to their grandchildren's classrooms to meet the teachers and pupils. They shared experiences from their childhood, and answered questions from the students. They also listened to the girls sing songs and some even tried out the interactive whiteboards! The staff, pupils and the grandparents themselves, thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

Hot Water Bottles for Ukraine

A  Ukranian teacher visits our school regularly to support the Ukranian children in our school. She appealed for hot water bottles to send to Ukraine.  Oksana was delighted to be able to send 150 hot water bottles to her hometown. (In many small packages free with An Post). Her relatives organised the distribution of these there.

On behalf of the school community I would like to welcome you to the official website of Our Lady of Good Counsel Girls National school.  Our school is an all-girls school. We also have three mixed classes for children with autism.

We are a Catholic school that strives to provide a caring, happy and secure atmosphere where the individual strengths and needs of each child, together with their cultural and background, are nurtured and embraced. We are extremely lucky to have a vibrant positive and hardworking staff who put the children at the centre of their endeavours.

Our school community here in Johnstown, comprises of the children, their parents, our staff, the Parents'Association and our partner school, Our Lady of Good Counsel Boys N.S. We all work collaboratively to ensure that each child received the best education experience and reaches their fullest potential.

We welcome new students and their families to our dynamic and supportive community.
