A Note from our Principal

On behalf of our school community, I would like to welcome you to the official website of Our Lady of Good Counsel Girls' National School. Our school is an all-girls school. We also have three classes for children with autism (both boys and girls). We are a school that strives to provide a caring, happy and secure atmosphere, where the individual strengths and needs of each child together with their cultural background are nurtured and embraced. We are extremely lucky to have a vibrant positive and hard-working team, who put the children at the centre of their endeavours.
Our school community here in Johnstown is comprised of the children, their parents, our staff, the Parents' Association, and our partner school, Our Lady of Good Counsel Boys N.S. We all work collaboratively to ensure each child receives the best educational experience and reaches their fullest potential.
We welcome new students and their families to our dynamic and supportive community.

Learning through play is an important part of our whole-school approach to teaching and learning and a key focus of our School Self-Evaluation (SSE) and School Improvement Plan.
Here in OLGC Girls' School, we believe children learn best when they are happy, curious and actively involved in their learning. Through a whole-school approach to learning through play, guided by Aistear and the new Primary Curriculum Framework, children develop confidence, wellbeing, language skills and strong foundations in literacy and numeracy.

We continue to focus on the well-being of all of our pupils.
