Sixth Class Graduation
We said goodbye to our 6th Classes and Senior Meadow students this week. Sixth Classes had a wonderful Graduation ceremony on Tuesday. The whole school formed a guard of honour for them as they returned to the school from the church. This was followed by a garden party for the girls and their parents. On Wednesday, we had another lovely ceremony for The Meadow Graduation. We wish all of them well as they move on to new schools. We know they will live up to their Sixth Class motto; 'Shine Bright Like a Diamond'.
Although we are sad to see them leave, we are looking forward to welcoming our new Junior Infants on August 30th.
Sixth Class Retreat to Glendalough
As is tradition, our Sixth Classes went on a Retreat to Glendalough, accompanied by Father Murney. He led them on a mindful walk through the monastic settlement and afterwards facilitated a small prayer service in Reefert Church. It was a thoroghly enjoyable experience for both staff and pupils.
Sixth Class Musical: The Wizard Of Oz
We are very proud of our Sixth Class production of 'The Wizard of Oz'. The two classes, their teachers and SNAs worked very hard and staged a wonderful production. They performed for the students and 6th Class parents on May 10th and 11th.

All classes from second to sixth, took part in an art competition to design a cover for the musical booklet. Here are the amazing winning entries from each class level.

Easter Fun
In the run-up to the Easter holidays, we enjoyed many fun activities including Easter art and Easter egg hunts in the school garden. It was a lovely way to finish our second school term.
Enjoy the Easter break and we look forward to welcoming all of our students back on April 17th.

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2023
Bhí an-spraoi ag na paistí le linn Seachtain na Gaeilge. Rinne na paistí an-iarracht ‘Cúpla focal’ a úsaid. The teachers chose an Irish speaker of the day and an over-all Irish speaker of the week. We had a lot of great activities; whole school Bingó, two fabulous Irish assemblies with some incredible Irish dancing, a visit from the Army Band, Tráth na gceist and the Junior and Senior Infants also went on a parade around the neighbourhood.

Army Band Visit
The No.1 Army Band came to help us celebrate St. Patricks Day. They played for both Boys and Girls Schools in two sessions, one for the Junior and one for the Senior Classes. It was a very emotional experience with everyone singing along to the music played, including Ireland's Call.

Hot Water Bottles for Ukraine
In December, Oksana, who works with the Ukranian children in our school, appealed for hot water bottles to send to Ukraine. These have arrived in her home town of Paklova and have been distributed by her friends and relatives to children who are living in very difficult circumstances there.
New Table Tennis Tables
We recently purchased six table tennis tables. Their arrival caused much excitement in the school. All classes have had an opportunity to try them out. The girls have had lots of fun trying them out and are enjoying learning a new skill. You will see Senior Infants using them in the photos below.
Microsoft Coding Workshop
On February 22nd, both of our 5th classes took part in a coding workshop led by employees from Microsoft Ireland. They were awarded a cerificate on completion of this training. Hopefully this inspires an interest in coding.
Grandparents Day - January 25th
Today was a very special day. We were delighted to welcome over 80 grandparents to visit us in the school. After refreshments in the hall, they went to their grandchildren's classrooms to meet the teachers and pupils. They shared experiences from their childhood, and answered questions from the students. They also listened to the girls sing songs and some even tried out the interactive whiteboards! The staff, pupils and the grandparents themselves, thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
Our Movie Madness Day, took place on Friday, December 9th. It was run by our 6th class students and their teachers, in aid of the VDP, (Society of St. Vincent dePaul). Thanks to all of our students and their families for your support. A grand total of €3,275 was raised to support people in need in our local community.
